Behind the scenes...

Anyone who is a fan of the hit channel 4 show, The Misfits, check out the below images from the latest Disorder shoot I styled.

I was pretty nervous before meeting them all as this was my first big styling project for TV stars, and obviously you always here horror stories about celebrities being Diva's and refusing to wear anything. The cast were amazing to work with. The new guy had me in stitches for the entire day, and it was nice to be working with some 1 who had a stronger northern accent than my own!

Ccccheck it out...

IZMAYLOVA

Upon entering the building the attendees were greeted with a wispy droll from a rather attractive gentleman dressed in train inspector attire, thus emerging us into the mystery and intrigue of the Izmaylova express.
Walking up the grand stair case of the Freemasons Hall was like stepping back in time to a place filled with romance and allure. The venue was packed with the usual suspects found on front rows, with Shingai Shoniwa of The Noisettes, proving why she’s constantly found on the best dress lists, wearing a daring fur frock synched in at the waist.
As the clock chimed, the subtle sounds of a train’s engine filled the room and the lights began to dim, this was not going to be the type of journey with an employee from national rail services strolling down the catwalk, trolley in hand, with a load of soggy sandwiches and naff coffee. What sashayed down the catwalk happened to be nothing less than pure glamour.
Hues of sumptuous silks in caramel, burnt orange and gold, draped on the models form partnered with cuts of suede, gave the dresses an empowered and sophisticated air. Clear influences were taken from both the 1920’s and 1970’s, as witnessed with the floor length silk dresses combined with flared sleeves. Along with the ethereal dresses, the design duo also created more structured forms through the use of contrast paneling and a well tailored suit in there colour du jour, gold.
The showmanship and the whole allure of the show seemed reminiscent of McQueen’s approach of submersing your audience within the collection, not just merely showing them it, but making them visualize who that woman is. With the final garment consisting of a short black dress layered with a long train of black serenading behind with each step, the whole collection screamed one thing- red carpet, and then, the romantic journey was no more…the train had come to its final destination.

Normal Gets You NOWHERE.

A couple of months ago one of the most exciting and scary moments of my career so far happened. They always say never meet with your idols incase your left disappointed...but how could I be left disappointed with this ball busting icon. I was invited to interview the amazing Kelly Cutrone from the lovely PR girls from make up brand Illamasqua. Kelly is infamous for her no holds barred approach to work and business and I'd be lying if I didn't say I was just a little intimidated. However the interview was both hilarious and insightful. She is such a passionate and nurturing woman who really just wants to see the best in people, and boyyyy can Kelly talk! Before we knew it we ended up going over out time slot by twenty minutes! Kelly then shocked us all by inviting us for a quick glass of wine in her hotel room before she headed to her book signing.

Best day ever!

XO

P.s the interview will be in  the next issue of Disorder Magazine! Be sure to grab yourself a copy when it's released at the end of September!

Do my little turn on the catwalk!

In the run up to London Fashion Week, I thought I'd share with you all some catwalk snaps I took during this years Graduate Fashion Week in June. GFW showcases the collections of students from some of the UK's leading universities. This year seen a complete change in the reason I happened to be there, as the year before I was actually showcasing my own work to prospective employers, and now this time around I happened to be going to review students on behalf of Disorder Magazine.
The talent once again blew me away, and the best thing about t he event is that the focus is not only placed on London universities. I think in terms of fashion degrees, most employers have this attitude of only considering those who have come from London colleges, when in actual fact up North there are just as many talents!

  p.s GO TEAM NORTHUMBRIA!

"Remembered for setting the world on fire..."

60's Icon Edie Sedgewick is a huge inspiration of mine. As a model/muse/actress/socialite she was the epitome of the fashion forward 60's style. Her elfin features and minute frame projected an image of innocence, however Edie was obviously never one to shy away from the spotlight.

I even have a tattoo on the inside of my left arm of the infamous conversation between her and Andy Warhol, discussing how they think they'll be remembered when they passed... unfortunately for everyone, Edies passing was much too soon.
